ICE FISHING

1/17/2020

Ice fishing has been between average to good lately.  Northerns and bass are being caught on tip-ups using medium golden shiners and walleye suckers.  While jigging for walleyes and panfish most people are using waxies, spikes, and crappie minnows.  Also for jigging: raps, kastmaster spoons, sweedish pimples and tungsten jigs have been effective.  Overall ice thickness is 10-14 inches but there are still some lakes with thinner ice so please take caution.  We had some early warm temperatures this winter and then snowfall before the ice could solidify.  It is advised to travel on snowmobile or on foot unless it is a lake you are familiar with and are positive of the ice thickness.
